(Video) Woman gives birth to octuplets (eight babies)

A woman in California, USA has given birth to octuplets (eight children) by Caesarian section. This is only the second time that a set of octuplets have survived for so many hours after their birth. The six boys and two girls weigh between 1lb 8oz and 3lb 4oz. Doctors confirmed that all the babies are doing well.



Doctors had initially told the woman that she would be giving birth to seven children. But after the seven children were born, doctors found the eighth child in the womb. Doctors revealed that in such cases ultrasound scans do not show everthing.



While the woman will be able to go home after 2 weeks, she will be able to take her children home only after at least 2 months.



The first case was of Nigerian born Nkem Chukwu of Houston, Texas, whose had octuplets, in 1998. One however died after some time. The remaining seven children have already celebrated their 10th birthday.
