Reliance launches unlimited wireless Broadband Netconnect Plus
Reliance has launched its Reliance Netconnect Broadband Plus mobile broadband high speed CDMA service in India. Reliance claims that this is the fastest mobile broadband service currently available to consumers in India and that it is suitable for video conferencing, rich media content and other data intensive downloads.
Reliance Netconnect Broadband Plus has a downlink speed of up to 3.1 Mbps and uplink speed of upto 1.8 Mbps.
Netconnect Broadband Plus service will be available in 35 major cities and covers 20,000 towns and 4.5 lakh villages as well as all major road and rail routes across the country thereby covering 99% of India's Internet population. Reliance Communications has invested Rs 600 crore in establishing a hybrid network for its ‘Netconnect Broadband Plus’ product.
RCOM has already placed an order for over one million USB modems with global equipment suppliers, Huawei and ZTE.
The Broadband Plus service will be available from March 17 in two USB modem variants, for laptop and home PC users separately. The USB modem will be available at Rs 3,500 and service plans range from Rs 299 for pay-per-use to Rs 1,750 for unlimited usage. However, Reliance Netconnect Broadband Plus has a limit of 10GB on unlimited plans, as part of their Fair Usage Policy. If the user crosses the limit of 10GB, then he will have to pay Rs. 2 per MB of data transfer.
